Everyone deserves a second chance
Over 1500 hours of supervised staffing have been arranged to help students complete community service commitments at the YWCA. The students may be volunteering for altruistic reasons, or for the purpose of gaining experience, or for court appointed reasons.
A large majority of our teenagers come to the YWCA as first-time offenders and they are looking for a second chance. They have been teens that have run away from home, charged with offenses such as petty theft, reckless driving, underage consumption, possession of marijuana or injury to property.
Our staff is here to help interrupt developing patterns of criminal behavior by promoting feelings of self-esteem and motivation for self-improvement.
For court appointed community service call the YWCA at (605) 336-3660 and ask for the administrative assistant that works with volunteers.
