Tribute to Women Awards Program, Thurs., March 25, 2010
Nominate a deserving woman for YWCA Tribute to Women.
The YWCA Tribute to Women awards program is an inspirational and exciting celebration of talent, achievement, imagination and innovation, honoring local women who have made a unique and exemplary contribution to the community. The YWCA event sponsored by Avera McKennan begins on Thursday, March 25 with a 5 PM reception in the Washington Pavilion lobby, with hors d’oeuvres, live music and a silent auction. The awards program begins in the Great Hall at 7 PM. We hope you will join us.

Date Set for Fabulous "Viva Vegas" Spinster Dance
Calling all high school students and parents of high school students - the YWCA Spinster dance is scheduled for Saturday, March 27, 2010 at the YWCA South location. The evening is set up so that the girls choose their date but many students come without dates, some in pairs and others in groups. Royalty for the events will be chosen at LHS, O'G, RHS, and WHS.
"Spinsters" is a 70+ year tradition of the YWCA where four junior girls and four senior girls from each of the Sioux Falls public and Catholic schools work to make a difference in their community through volunteer service. Each year the group helps to organize an all high school dance. This year 1200 students will attend the dance and will raise money for youth programs.
The YWCA and Spinster committee will select four junior girls each fall from the following high schools to serve a two-year commitment on the Spinster committee: Lincoln, O'Gorman, Roosevelt, and Washington. Bunco Tourney
Do you know a Bunco player? Have them contact us.
The YWCA is planning a Bunco event to draw upon the enthusiastic Bunco players. The evening will provide a fun time for Bunco playing, silent auction and prizes for the winner. Funds raised from this event will be applied to education programs for refugee and immigrant women, childhood education for childcare workers, and health and parenting education for families who seek the YWCA for support.
