YWCA Junior Skyleaders Dance Camps (teamed with Skyforce Skyleaders!)
Camp 1: January 23 Camp 2: February 6 Camp 3: March 27
All camps are held at the YWCA
The YWCA and Skyforce Skyleaders are hosting three hip hop dance camps for kids in grades
K-4th and grades 5-8th. This is a great opportunity for young dancers to share in the spirit of basketball, build life-long bonds with new friends, and create lasting memories! Campers will spend the day with the Skyleaders dance squad and learn a short routine to be performed during a Skyforce basketball game that evening. The campers will also participate in the announcement of players during the starting lineup. The day includes warm-ups, making posters, learning cheers and a half-time routine. All levels of dance/cheer are welcome. Be sure to bring tennis shoes and plenty of water. Campers should dress in appropriate clothing for moving and dancing; tennis shoes are recommended. For the half-time performance, campers should wear black pants or black shorts and the camp T-shirt each camper receives for attending camp. Parents are welcome the last 10 minutes of camp to observe the skills and choreography learned during the sessions.
Camp 1, January 23, 2010 from 12-4pm for camp, and 6:30-8:30 Halftime performance
at Skyforce vs. Los Angeles game. Registration deadline is January 8.
Camp 2, February 6, 2010 from 12-4pm for camp, and 6:30-8:30 Halftime performance
at Skyforce vs. Maine game. Registration deadline is January 29.
Camp 3, March 27, 2010 from 12-4pm for camp, and 6:30-8:30 Halftime performance
at Skyforce vs. Springfield game. Registration deadline is March 19.
Age groups: boys and girls grades K-4th and grades 5-8
Fee: $60 for each camp or $150 for all 3 camps.
(A different routine is learned at each camp) Fees include shirts, pom poms, snack and drink, and a ticket to that night's game. Friends and family can purchase additional Upper Empire tickets for a reduced rate of $10 (a $22 value)
"Do Good" Day, Wednesday, March 31
During the day children will go around town doing random acts of kindness throughout the community. Children have an opportunity to see the pleasure in helping others throughout our city.

Scientific Discovery, Thursday & Friday, April 1 & 2, 2010
Children will participate in various scientific experiments to learn more about the world around them. They will also visit the Science Center at the Washington Pavilion.

"Picture This", Monday, April 5, 2010
We will spend the day with a professional photographer and learn the secrets to successful picture taking. Kids will practice with digital cameras and their best photo will be put in a frame they create!

SUMMER 2010 CAMPS
Babysitting 1 Camp, May 18-19 (2days)
This 2-day camp readies your pre-teen for babysitting with tips on basic child care, safety precautions, preventing accidents and basic life-saving techniques.
Ages: boys and girls ages 10 and up

Babysitting 2 Camp, May 20, 2010
This camp certifies your pre-teen/teen with infant and child CPR and first aid skills. YWCA Babysitting 1 or completion of another introductory babysitting course is required.

Discover Sioux Falls Camp, May 19-21
During this 2-day camp, we'll be touring the "Hot Spots" of Sioux Falls and let the kids discover all the great things this city offers! Parks, bike trails, museums, Thunder Road, and more!

Kinder Kamp, 10 am - 3 pm
Session1: June 14-17, Session 2:June 21-24, or Session 3: June 28-July 1
All kids ages 3 1/2 to 5 1/2 enjoy this YWCA favorite! Kids get their "first time" camp experience and enjoy learning fun games, doing camp-themed projects, singing wacky camp songs and swimming each day. Kids need to bring their own lunch and don't forget your swimming gear! Snacks are provided.

Elementary Camp, July 26-29 10 am to 3 pm
Beat the summer boredom with this fun camp for kids ages 6-12. Each day your kids will have fun with crafts, games, and other camp-themed activities along with a refreshing swim time each day! Kids need to bring their own lunches and swimming gear. Snacks are provided.
